1) TRENTO
Do not miss the Christmas market in Arco, from November 20th to January 6th: a beautiful place to enjoy the wait for Christmas, in a small village in Trentino, on the shores of Lake Garda. The typical wooden houses offer gift ideas for all tastes, both traditional and original, and you can taste roasted chestnuts, mulled strauben and apple, as well as local products such as cheese, honey and jams. For the little ones, there is the little Christmas train.
Agriturismo Florandonole
Recommended: Farmhouse Florandonole, at the foot of the Brenta Dolomites. Of modern Alpine design, the facility is built according to the principles of ‘climate house’, with references to the land, to nature and the mountains: the old larch wood, stone, and pine wood with their scents and colors pervade the rooms, while the soft, warm fabrics of wool and linen make the atmosphere refined and evocative. Don’t miss the delicious breakfast buffet and the menu of the restaurant.
2) UDINE
Truly original is the event Natale d’A…mare in Lignano Sabbiadoro, from December 5th to January 6th: the beautiful beach of Lignano is festively decorated, and the main attraction is the majestic Sand Nativity on an area of 400 square meters, where the artist Antonio Molin coordinates a team of ten people. Don’t miss the exhibition of nativity scenes, which exhibits the many fanciful works of visitors. Workshops are scheduled for adults and children, where they learn how to cook cakes. Do not miss the arrival of the “Befana” from the sea on January 5th, lwhile strolling through the markets.
Agriturismo Al Gelso
Recommended: Farmhouse Al Gelso, at the heart of a large farm, takes its name from an ancient mulberry tree that is proudly displayed at the center of the estate. The house, set in an old 18th-century farmhouse, has been restored with attention to preserving the original architecture and materials. At the restaurant , you can enjoy dishes such as gnocchi with ricotta, ravioli and risotto prepared with local products such as asparagus, pumpkin, radicchio and mushrooms
3) ROME
A truly impressive Christmas amosphere reigns in the small medieval town of Jenne, where from December 24th to January 6th, a really special historic crib is set in the narrow streets: recovering a tradition dating back to 1223, the characters are portrayed by mannequins dressed in period costumes and the scenes are reconstructed with the help of objects and tools typical of the most genuine tradition. A unique exhibition, which ends with the feast of St. Anthony and the Festival of Polenta and Fallone in January, with tastings of polenta, fallone, and cottage cheese.
Recommended: Farmhouse Zugarelli, just a short drive from Lake Bracciano, where they grow the produce, breed animals of white and red meat, and produce homemade pasta. Bread is baked in a wood oven, and a small community relishes the pleasure of recovering the contact with nature and a healthy and genuine lifestyle.
