\"epiphany\"<\/a>The<\/span><\/span> <\/strong>Epiphany<\/span><\/span><\/strong> is the culmination of the Christmas holidays, and according to the Christian tradition <\/span><\/span>January 6th<\/strong><\/span><\/span> cohincides with the arrival of the Magi at the manger of Bethlehem.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

As the <\/span><\/span>legend <\/strong><\/span><\/span>goes, the Magi, unable to find the road leading to the hut of the Baby Jesus asked for information to an old woman, who however refused to leave her house to show them the way. Afterwards, repenting not helping them, she went out to look for them and bring them a basket of candies, but she wasn\u2019t able to do that. So she stopped at every house she found on her way, giving out candies to the children she met, hoping that one of them would be the Child Jesus. Since then, on the night of January 5th<\/span><\/span> she has been going through the long ways of heaven to bring presents to all the children. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

All over Italy, the Epiphany is an opportunity to participate in interesting events that take place throughout the peninsula:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u2013 <\/span><\/span><\/strong>MILAN<\/span><\/span><\/a> commemorates this event with a<\/span><\/span> parade that takes place in the city center<\/span><\/span><\/strong>, from Piazza Duomo to Piazza Sant\u2019Eustorgio, with a stop at the Basilica of San Lorenzo (one of the most important early Christian monuments in the capital of Lombardy).<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u2013 <\/span><\/span>GENOA<\/span><\/span><\/a> celebrates the Epiphany with a special opening day of some art museums<\/strong> in town.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u2013 <\/span><\/span>FLORENCE<\/a><\/span><\/span> is the setting for the <\/span><\/span>reenactment of the cavalcade of the Magi<\/span><\/span><\/strong>, a parade that <\/span><\/span>in addition to the main characters, includes numerous other figures in costume, for a total of 700 characters. The departure is scheduled at 2 pm from Piazza Pitti, to get to Piazza Duomo.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u2013 <\/span><\/span>BOLOGNA<\/a><\/span><\/span> organizes lots of cultural activities<\/strong> such as the educational itinerary dedicated to Etruscans set up at the Archaeological Museum and the parade in costume that will pass in the streets of the historic center from 3 pm.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u2013 IVREA<\/a><\/strong> lights up with the colours of Carnival<\/strong>, one of the oldest and most fascinating folkloristic eventes of our nation.
