The beauty of Mantua enchants immediately visitors even from the outside, with its wonders and monuments reflected in the waters of the Mincio.<\/p>\n

UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2008, Mantua is a city rich in history and art. Even today, centuries after its birth, it continues to enchant visitors from all over the world, with its splendid monuments mostly made \u200b\u200bby the family of Gonzaga.<\/p>\n

The best way to visit the city is to walk along the streets in the city centre and admire the numerous ancient beauties, starting with the medieval Piazza Sordello setting of the Palazzo Ducale (or Gonzaga palace), one of Europe\u2019s largest buildings of its kind, since the thirteenth century. Inside: \u00a0the Archaeological Section, classical sculptures, fine tapestries and frescoes.<\/p>\n

On the same square rises the cathedral \u00a0dedicated to St. Peter, built in many architectural and artistic styles. The bell tower is Romanesque, the chapels \u00a0are typically Gothic , and in the decorated interior five naves and aisles are supported by classical columns. Several frescoes adorn the Baptistery and the Chapel dell\u2019Incoronata, created by Fancelli in 1480.<\/p>\n

Famous worldwide, Palazzo Te is the grand residence of the Gonzaga designed by Giulio Romano between 1525 and 1535 in rural Renaissance style. Very famous are Sala dei Giganti, with its magnificent frescoes and Sala di Amore e Psiche.<\/p>\n
