Anyone who wants to open a farmhouse in Friuli Venezia Giulia must respond to the regional law 22 of June 22, 1996.

A “farmhouse” is defined as a facility for the accommodation of tourists, including the administration of the typical products of the estate, or of neighboring farms. In addition to being subscribed to the List of farm tourism operators, the aspiring manager of a farm must take into account certain obligations.
Among these, there is the need to provide the facility with no more than 15 bedrooms, designed to accommodate up to 30 people. As for the opening of the restaurant, the latter must not exceed 210 opening days a year and its maximum capacity must be 80 seats. When deciding to open a farmhouse, the aspiring entrepreneur must apply to the municipality where the farm is located, including the details of the company and its compliance to the hygiene rules established for the common areas, both for bedrooms and toilets.
