Ampezzo and Cadore belong to the Veneto region, and they are located in the province of Belluno. Cadore includes the Ampezzo Valley, which is a vast basin of dolomitic origin.

As regards historical events, being in this part of Veneto means to plunge into the atmosphere of some of the most significant events of the last two centuries. The inhabitants of Cadore in fact had a prominent role during the Risorgimento, and the fervent political activism of that period is attested by many commemorative headstones.

The area of Ampezzo, however, became part of the italian territory only during the fascist period, after the end of the political control of the Hapsburg Empire. Those who want to enjoy the beauty of these areas should not to miss a visit to Cortina, one of the most famous towns of the Dolomites, and the Misurina Lake, a charming natural basin, around which an important network of tourist reception services has developed.
