The Dolomites of Lucania (located in the province of Potenza) are part of the Apennines of Lucania, and are characterized by the presence of quartz. Their name derives from their morphological similarity to the chain of northern Italy: it is possible to find some shapes that call to mind the grandeur of the highest mountains on the border between our country and the German-speaking world.

The Dolomites of Lucania are located in the Natural Park of Gallipoli Cognato, a place of great fascination for both walkers and for those who want to discover the valuable villages in the area. There are five villages where time seems to stand still, such as Pietrapertosa, which is the highest town in Basilicata.

Little more than 1,000 people live there, and for visitors this village is very fascinating, since it is perched on a mountain side. Do you want to find out more about this wonderful part of Italy? How about staying at a farmhouse?
