The stages

Step

CURON – RESIA LAKE
The lake of Resia is connected to the popular belltower that comes out from its waters and it is surrounded by the mountains of the Ortles massif: its history is linked to the project for the building of an artificial basin which took place in 1947 and which forced the population to move to Vallelunga. A few kilometers from there there is the Abbey of Monte Maria a Burgusio, founded at the beginning of the 13th century.
Step

MALLES
The first significant traces of human settlements date back to Roman times, as attested by an archaeological find in 2011, which took place thanks to the work of some archaeologists from Innsbruck University. The name of this place, in use since the beginning of the eleventh century, means "mountain." Among the monuments that deserve visiting we mention the Abbey of Monte Maria, a Benedictine religious complex dating back to the thirteenth century.
Step

GLORENZA
Glorenza is the smallest urban area of Alto Adige. Located in the province of Bolzano, this small village of 876 inhabitants is a real gem for those who like to stay in the middle of unspoiled nature. The population is German-speaking, and tourists who want to fully appreciate the atmosphere of the place can stay during the holidays of the Immaculate Conception, when Christmas markets are set up.
Step

SILANDRO
Silandro is surrounded by lots of orchards characterizing the whole area; the symbol of the village is the belltower of the Parish Church of Saint Mary of the Assumption which, with its over 90 meters of height, is the highest belltower in Tyrol. The importance of Silandro is attested by the presence of convents, churches and castles: a few kilometers from there rises Castel Coira, one of the most imposing and better preserved castles in Alto Adige, with the biggest private armory.
Step

MERANO
Merano is the most populous urban center in the autonomous province of Bolzano. The center of this remarkable town is full of interesting buildings, among which there are those built in Art Nouveau style, Puccini Theatre, the Cathedral (dating back to the 14th century), the Thermae and the Gardens of Castel Trauttmansdorff, one of the most beautiful botanical gardens in Italy.
