CasciaValnerina is a beautiful area that takes its name from the river that runs through it, the Nera, and is one of the most beautiful areas of Umbria.
Fortifications, medieval towers, chapels and monasteries dot the large undulating land, bringing to mind past ages. Numerous small villages preserve folk traditions and a rich cultural heritage.
Among the places not to be missed, we mention Cascia, the town of Santa Rita, which stands on the side of a rocky ridge in the heart of the Apennines. The monument that immediately strikes the eye of the visitor is the Basilica of Santa Rita, also known as the Saint of the Impossible Miracles, which is a pilgrimage destination throughout the year.
Instead Norcia is a town located in the most pristine area in the region, where is the National Park of Monti Sibillini, and the birthplace of the great St. Benedict. The beautiful walls are reminiscent of its glory during the Roman and later medieval ages. Among the monuments that are worth a visit, we find the Town Hall, the fortress Castellina, the Basilica of St. Benedict and the Cathedral.

Valnerina is also famous for its culinary delights: The Prosciutto di Norcia, saffron from Cascia, Norcia black truffle, the brown trout of the Nera River, goat cheese, and cold cuts such as salami, sausages and pork loins.
