Their name originated from the Romans decision to seek refuge in the country because of the Cattività Avignonese (1309-1377): during this period the Pope move himself away in Avignone. Albano Laziale and Ariccia are some of the most important cities in this area: the second one in particular is famous for its Porchetta.
