Up in the mountains only 20 km. away from Trento the “Mocheni valley” is known because it is a German speaking island. It remains in your heart because of its wonderful view of nature colors succession.
Its wild and charming environment can be known following the paths among meadows and woods, near houses and farms. You can reach alpine summer pastures and mountain huts during relaxing walks or you can feel the adventure on more difficoult routes, which look up to the high peaks of the proud “Lagorai” mountain group.
The Mocheni valley still keeps its own folk- and gastronomic traditions. They are a picture of the culture and customs of a population, which has been keeping its own identity throught the time not only with local traditional events (like “the song of the star” in the Christmas time and “Bèce” performance on the last day of carnival), but also with the love for the nature and the defence of its historic and cultural wealth.
The Mocheni valley won’t disappoint your expectations. Today it still looks like yesterday, when the austrian author Robert Musil named it “the enchanted valley”.
And to live deeply the local traditions there is nothing better than sleep in a typical “maso”!
