A wedding on an agriturismo is something unique and special: the most important day of your life in a dream location surrounded by greenery. The meal comes out of the farm's own kitchen, made with zero-mile ingredients; the symbolic ceremony takes place among the olive trees or in front of the vines; and when the party ends nobody drives away, because the guests sleep in the rooms of the farmhouse. Can you actually hold the ceremony on a farm?
The reception, always. The ceremony depends: a legally binding civil ceremony can only be held where the local council has designated the venue as an official location, while a symbolic ceremony can take place anywhere. We flag the properties that say they can host the ceremony on site, but confirm with both the owner and the council before you book.
How much does a farm wedding in Italy cost?
Pricing is almost always per head and varies widely by region, season and menu. As a rule a farm estate costs less than a historic villa for the same guest count, because the kitchen is in-house and there is no external caterer to pay. Where the owner has given a price range we show it; otherwise ask them directly for a quote.
How many guests can these venues hold?
It varies from around twenty for a small celebration to well over a hundred at estates with a large hall or generous grounds. Where the capacity has been stated you will find it on the property card.
Can guests stay overnight?
This is the main advantage over a banqueting hall: most of these properties have rooms or apartments, so guests stay put and nobody has to drive. The number of beds is shown on each card.
Can we have the whole property to ourselves?
Many estates offer exclusive use for the day, meaning one event at a time and no other guests on site. It is not automatic and not every property does it — where it has been stated, we label it.
How far ahead should we book?
For the peak months of May to September the most sought-after estates are booked twelve to eighteen months ahead. Outside the season lead times are far shorter and a few months is often enough.
