Surrounded by 2,000 acres of forest, located in a wonderful landscape and archaeological area, we find the Farmhouse Vecchia Masseria Charme & Relax. This facility, owned by the Golino family, is presented with care by Mr Philipe, an excellent cook by profession.
Who had the idea to undertake this kind of activity?
It was founded 12 years ago by my father and me, the managers of the farm. We wanted to start a farmhouse business, and not a hotel, just because we care about the direct relationship with customers. We make sure that our family and our staff are charismatic, and that they always make our guests feel at home.
What are the origins of the building?
This was originally a farm. An old property of the Baron of Palermo, who ran it together with some land workers. My family bought and renovated this structure, according to the aesthetic that is typical of rustic Sicily.
What kind of services do you offer to guests?
Our property features a swimming pool, a solarium and jacuzzi from where you can look at the sea. We also organize quad biking, horseback riding, helicopter tours, boat and guided tours in major cities in the surrounding area.
Do you produce and sell the products of your land?
Yes, of course! And we use them widely within the kitchen of our restaurant, to offer our guests traditional dishes with seasonal vegetables. In addition to this, our products supply our “Bottega Donna Andrea,” the company store where you can buy jams, liqueurs and olive oil produced in-house.
What about your restaurant?
We’re a family of professional cooks, we’ve worked for many years overseas where we gained the most refined craft. Our cuisine is characterized by a wide selection of appetizers and the use of spices that the earth offers us.
