The city that has charmed many with its medieval atmosphere, nestled among the rolling hills of Chianti, Val d’Elsa and Crete Senesi. A relaxing break which includes the classic stages of Piazza del Campo, every summer the hugely popular location for the Palio, which sees the competition of city districts, the imposing cathedral of the year 1100, the soaring Torre del Mangia and the National Art Gallery in the beautiful Palazzo Buonsignori. And then nearby we find the village of San Gimignano with its towers, Volterra famous for its alabaster, Pienza and the ancient Abbey of San Galgano, as well as excellent spa resorts Saturnia and Bagno Vignoni.
