Today we are in the hills around Siena, more precisely in Radicofani: Marco presents his farmhouse, Podere San Giorgio, the ideal destination for those who want to taste the freshest products and relax in the heart of nature without sacrificing the cultural highlights that Tuscany has to offer.
When was your farmhouse opened?
About a year and a half ago, when with my family I decided to give new life to an abandoned structure, and I entirely renovated it to start this new activity.
What characterizes your farm?
We have a herd of over a thousand Sardinian and Assaf breed sheep, for the production of fresh milk. We work with two cheese factories that turn our milk into cheese. The milk we produce is of high quality, because our sheep are bred naturally. The milk production takes place during the entire course of the year, and the sheep are milked twice a day, morning and afternoon. The fresh milk is withdrawn and immediately proceed to its transformation into really fresh products!
In addition to milk and cheese at our farm you can buy extra virgin olive oil, wine and locally produced honey.
What activities do you offer to your guests?
We work with some riding in the area, and, upon request, customers can have a guide for excursions to discover our beautiful land.
The aspect that customers like the most?
The beauty of the facility and the comfort and cleanliness of our apartments, with brand new furniture in rustic style, suitable also for families with children.
A destination not to be missed in your area?
The natural and free thermal baths of Bagni di San Filippo Terme, where the water has a pleasant temperature of around 40° C, only 5 km from our farm. Then lovely places like Florence and Montepulciano: we are a perfect starting point for those who love to visit new places without sacrificing a peaceful atmosphere!
What is your greatest satisfaction in carrying out this activity?
Undoubtedly the appreciation by our customers, who in many cases remain in contact with us even after their stay!
