The Baron Massola and his family formerly spent their summer holidays here, in the ancient agricultural estate Villanova, where tenacious farmers worked hard to produce the particularly fragrant olive oil and the quality wine of the Ligurian Riviera. On Sundays, the pealing bell of the family chapel called them together to pray and to rest from the hard task of cultivating such an unyielding land. Today Villanova opens its doors to visitors from all over the world to experience the tradition and ambiance from long ago. Our guests are invited to relax in a peaceful atmosphere surrounded by 15 hectares of nature, silver green olive groves, and bright green vineyards, only a few minutes away from the beautiful ligurian sea. The view from Villanova is unique, in the distance one can see several small villages nestled in the valleys, a scene that becomes especially appealing by night when the ochre-colored church towers are bathed in a soft light. Villanova is ideally located only 1.5 km away from the sea and the ancient town of Levanto, the gateway to the enticing Cinque Terre National Park and its characteristic five coastal villages which can easily be reached by train, ferry or by hiking. In 2003 Levanto earned the title of a "Citta ' Slow " town due to its appealing lifestyle, its excellent food, its strong traditions and its long history. Villanova offers accommodations in the elegantly furnished baron 's villa, the ‘old ‘ priest 's house adjacent to the chapel and in the charmingly restored historic stone farmhouse. Villanova 's rooms and apartments are individually designed and restored by Baron Giancarlo Massola himself. He paid special attention to details in his effort to maintain the historical characteristics of Villanova. Antique furniture and family paintings give the guests the sensation of a journey into the past. The rooms include standard doubles, junior suites and suites; they all have a private bathroom with shower and hairdryer and some have a kitchenette. They are equipped with all mode amenities: telephone, satellite TV, minibar, in room safe, heat, and some with air conditioning. The apartments, all with fully equipped kitchens, accommodate 2 to 6 people and are suitable for those who wish to spend a more independent holiday. A delicious breakfast buffet with organic and local products, served indoors or outside on our flower filled terraces, is included in the price of the rooms, but is also available for our guests who stay in the apartments. Tables and chairs, lounge beds, umbrellas and barbecue pits enable our guests to enjoy the "open air " life or a romantic dinner "under the stars ". Villanova 's ideal location offers our guest a broad spectrum of activities. Away from the crowds, situated in the open countryside, Villanova is a paradise for nature lovers and hikers. A hiking path connects Villanova directly to the famous and unique Cinque Terre National Park, listed in 1998 as a world heritage under the protection of UNESCO. The five villages of Cinque Terre, built on a sheer-drop coastline, can also be reached from Levanto by a short train ride or a scenic ferry boat ride. Villanova is a paradise for children who find its open space the ideal place for fun and adventure; and our sweet Golden Retriever "Giro " loves to entertain the little guests. Villanova maintains the agricultural traditions of the estate in spite of the rather harsh character of the Ligurian terrain. The work is still done manually, because rarely are machines able to climb the steep hills. Olive groves and vineyards are skilfully cultivated thanks to the experience of the "old " farmers and the enthusiasm of the youngest descendent of the noble family, the Baron Giancarlo Massola. Olives, grapes, vegetables and fruits (which are used to prepare our delicious jams and preserves) are cultivated without the use of pesticides or chemicals, thus you will be able to taste 100% natural products.

Agriturismo Villanova is a 17th-century estate nestled in the hills of Levanto, just a few minutes from the sea and the gateway to the Cinque Terre. Once the summer retreat of the noble Massola family, today it welcomes guests in comfortable rooms and self-catering apartments, surrounded by 15 hectares of vineyards, olive groves and lush gardens. A panoramic swimming pool with hydromassage and airtherapy, spacious lawns with sun loungers and umbrellas, and shady corners under the pergola create a relaxing atmosphere at any time of day. Villanova embraces an eco-friendly philosophy: pesticide-free farming, breakfast based mainly on organic and local products, solar panels for hot water and renovation works carried out using natural materials. The farm’s main products are olives and grapes, along with fruit and vegetables that are turned into homemade jams and preserves. After a day spent hiking along coastal trails, visiting picturesque villages or exploring the Cinque Terre by boat, you can come back to the agriturismo for a dip in the pool, a yoga session, an olive oil and wine tasting or a Ligurian cooking class.
