The Agriturismo "Il Casale 1882", Organic Farm, is located on the western border of the Nebrodi Park in the territory of the Municipality of Reitano, at an average altitude of 300 m above sea level, and extends over an area of 21 hectares. The farming system consists of an olive grove (15 ha.), a citrus grove (2 ha.), an orchard and a vegetable garden. The olive grove, made up of the "Santagatese" variety, has the characteristic of "a higher selenium content" which, combined with the considerable presence of polyphenols, results in an oil of unique quality for its antioxidant power and high nutritional value. The farm's main building is a Baglio built, in the second half of the nineteenth century, by Baron Giacomo Russo, who left it as an inheritance to his children and then his grandchildren up to the present day. In 2008, part of the Baglio was renovated, respecting its origins, for agritourism use. The structure consists of a large dining room capable of seating over one hundred guests, available if required for banquets, and seven bedrooms, for a total of fifteen beds, each with an en-suite shower room, telephone, satellite TV, air conditioning and the possibility of internet connection. It is only five kilometres from the famous artistic ceramic production centre of S. Stefano di Camastra and from the nearby sea with its wide bathing shores; it is also approximately twenty minutes by motorway from Cefalù, a location known worldwide for its artistic and scenic beauty. A little further away are the Aeolian Islands, reachable in a short time from Milazzo and S. Agata di Militello. Approximately ten kilometres away are the ruins of Alesa (a city founded in 403 B.C.). Finally, the Nebrodi Park borders the farm's land. Particular attention has been given to energy saving with the installation of solar panels that heat the water required by the complex. The installation of photovoltaic panels for the production of electricity is planned. Lovers of nature, genuine food and ancient flavours are welcome in this place of peace and serenity.
