The Tenuta Torchio antico, a noble residence dating back to the 1700s, lies in the municipality of S. Pier Niceto in the province of Messina, halfway between the national road 113 and the inhabited centre of the aforementioned municipality in the district called Pirrera. The recommended motorway exit is Milazzo (port of embarkation for the Aeolian Islands). The distance between Milazzo and our Resort is only 8 km. Panoramic hillside position overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea to the west and north and east. It visually encompasses the cape of Milazzo and the islands of Vulcano, Lipari, Panarea, Dattilo, Lisca Bianca and Stromboli. It overlooks the Niceto torrent and the village of Torregrotta below. A few kilometres of road reach San Pier Marina (of S. P. Niceto) and the coast of Torregrotta. The property is dominated by the old manor house, with its underlying warehouses and millstones and several buildings once used to store foodstuffs, grain, maize, olives, etc. Some buildings were still used to shelter livestock. The cultivated land is laid out in wide terraces that are mostly used for growing vines and lemons. There is a basin for collecting water, and there is an old kiln in which the tiles of the existing old buildings were manufactured, and with them the handmade bricks. The age of the buildings can be seen in their composition, the traditional wine presses for crushing the grapes, and the two ancient presses made of only oak dating back to the early 19th century for pressing the marc. Next to the manor house is the Church of the S. S. Madonna del Rosario, still open for public worship, received by Canon Francesco Bruno Rector of the Sanctuary of Montalto di Messina, who rebuilt it after the earthquake that destroyed the city in 1908, director of the Salesian Religious Institute, servant of the Pope, and a respected historian and publicist. One of the church's bells bears the name of Canon F. sco Bruno and the year indicated is 1790, thus denoting that this Canon born in 1860 was preceded by another Canon uncle who lived in the area in the 18th century. Mention has been made of the aforementioned information to highlight the fact that the sites are of considerable historical interest.
