The Agriturismo "LA GROTTA" is located in Caminate, a hamlet of Fano, on a line of hills that rise gently along the right bank of the Metauro river, about 7 km from the sea. Immersed in the greenery of the Marche countryside, it embraces a vast panorama extending from the Adriatic coast towards the Apennine mountain range. On the north bank of the river stands the Camaldolese Hermitage of Monte Giove. In the immediate vicinity, places of particular interest for their historical and artistic heritage are easily reachable, such as: Urbino, San Leo, Gradara, Gubbio, the Frasassi Caves, etc. The Rural Centre takes its name from the Cave of San Paterniano (patron saint of Fano). The cave, carved into a hilltop at 137 m above sea level, in a place that was once rugged and steep, served as the refuge of San Paterniano during the persecutions against Christians carried out around the year 303 A.D. and continued to be inhabited by hermit monks. The walls and vault formed by river stones covered with very fine gravel, the two skylights opened in the middle of the vault to allow access to the cavern, bear witness to careful construction work that remains intact and in good structural condition after 16 centuries. La Grotta awaits you in its two large interior rooms. A conference room is also available. The venue also has a large garden where guests can let their children play or have dinner on warm summer evenings. The rural house, characteristically restored, offers spacious rooms, tastefully furnished and equipped with every comfort. The Agriturismo "La Grotta" also has recently renovated apartments.
