La Macciona farm is situated in the middle of green countryside in Gallura, about 4 km (2.5 miles) from Aglientu and about 8 km (5 miles) from the sea. An old stazzo has been completely restored, so that nine holiday apartments in four separate but connected houses are available on the organically certified farm. The four houses lie on a hill in grounds that are about 30 hectares (72 acres) in size. From some parts of the site there is a spectacular panorama including a sea view – in clear weather it is possible to see Corsica with the naked eye. The incomparable charm of La Macciona includes taking meals in the shade of an ancient cork oak and its surroundings of delightful Mediterranean woods. A little lake that was built to irrigate the fields and a wonderful view of the nearby meadows and the rocky hills of the neighbourhood are further enchanting features of the site.For all those who love riding, six Anglo-Arabian-Sardinian thoroughbreds are available. Not only experienced riders, but also children and beginners can take part in delightful excursions on beautiful paths that lead through Mediterranean woods and bush to the coast, where there are long sandy beaches and little bays enclosed by granite rocks.The broadest beach is Vignola, which has 3 km (2 miles) of sand and is overlooked by the 18th-century tower of the same name. Rena Majore beach is also nearby.
