"PERNIA' derives from the ancient Greek and means 'GRANAIO'. From time immemorial, on the terraces lying on the back of the hill that slopes down from the Vallina towards the Castagnara valley, in the little land ploughed by oxen, 'wheat, oats, barley and maize' were cultivated, giving little production but of excellent quality. Proof of this can still be found outside the farmhouse in the threshing floor, where women once stripped the ears of grain. The farmhouse covers an area of about six hectares, in a hilly area, in the Pollino National Park, lying on terraces, where olive trees (about 300 century-old plants) and vines, native vines (greco; white and black malvasia; moscato) have always been cultivated; it is also rich in fruit trees of all kinds and goodness, such as figs of various qualities. You will enjoy a panorama without limits, sweeping across the border between two regions Calabria and Basilicata, painted by the thousand colours of the seasons, from the deep green of spring to the red of autumn leaves. The excellent location of the agritourism, immersed in nature at a short distance from the sea, close to places of art and history, and to locations rich in natural beauty, meets the tastes of all those seeking a relaxing holiday. The refreshment point, an old ruin used to shelter olives that has been restored, still retains its original features: outside you can see not only the cistern - an ancient method of collecting rainwater - but also the farmyard where the women sorted out the corn cobs. It is a warm and welcoming environment, the ideal place to enjoy the flavours of our traditional cuisine prepared with fresh and genuine ingredients accompanied categorically by Calabrian bread and wine. The lodgings have been converted from old farm buildings, which after careful restoration have retained their rustic and warm characteristics. The residences, soberly furnished with respect for the places and history, are independent, cosy and reserved. There are 4 lodgings, 3 of which sleep 2-5 and one studio apartment, all independent, supplied with drinking water and complete with crockery and bathroom facilities.
