Surroundings (Modigliana)

Settimano is located close to Modigliana, 12 miles far from Faenza, famous for its well know International Museum of Ceramics. Hikes along the Apennine Tosco-Emiliano (hills dividing Tuscany from Emilia-Romagna) allow to discover this characteristic landscape. Nearby there is the gorgeous National Park of the “Foreste Casentinesi, Monte Falterona, Campigna” Nearby there are fascinating small towns, with their intact ancient flavor, such as Brisighella. The sea side resorts are only 1 hour drive from Settimano, and Ravenna, with its Romanic churches full of Byzantine mosaics, is only about 30 miles far. Within an hour drive you can reach the city of Bologna. Famous locations are easily reachable: Florence is only 1,5 hour by car or 2 hours by train (about 60 miles away), Venice is 2,5 hours by train/car. Moreover, Mirabilandia, a huge amusement park, is only 30 miles away. Near Settimano there are tennis courts (1km) and two golf courses (20 km)

This summer, on my second visit to Settimano, the cool evening breezes were a continuation of the long hours spent in the swimming pool during the daytime. The manor’s charm and the management’s care have matured beautifully, and the hospitality felt wonderfully familiar. Special thanks to Mr. Franco for the garden-fresh vegetables every morning. A truly memorable life experience.
