The farm is situated in the province of Bologna, 110 metres above sea level, 18 km from the town centre. The surrounding land is very hilly and formed of the clay soil from the Pliocene period, which gave rise to the badlands formation. Indeed, the municipality of the agriturismo is also home to the “Parco dei Gessi Bolognesi e Calanchi della Badessa” karst park. The farm is made up of 87 hectares of land but only 40 hectares of this is suitable for cultivation. 20 hectares of the remaining land has been reforested with native downy oaks and oaks and 27 hectares are used for grazing. The farm breeds cattle, swine, sheep and farmyard animals; there is also a large vegetable garden (5000 m²) as well as cherry, apricot, plum and peach trees. An application for organic certification has also been made since no chemicals or poisons have been used in cultivation and breeding for years. The farm is home to the modedog centre “Centro Cinofilo Felicia” that offers a dog hotel, selected breeding of Border Collies and Jack Russell terriers, dog agility, training and obedience. The agriturismo and the centre work together to organise inteships, holidays with dogs and a number of services dedicated to man’s best friend. The agriturismo has 8 double rooms, all finely furnished. Each room has its own bathroom with shower, LCD TV, air-conditioning, internet. Some rooms also have a functional, hidden kitchenette. Dogs of any size are allowed in the rooms as long as they are well trained. The restaurant is being built at the moment: it will have seating for 60 and will offer typical local dishes with some different takes. Farm produce will be served. Vegetarian menus can be provided on request. In any case, at the moment it is possible to request lunch and dinner served in a dining room. Nearby, there are several “trattorias” offering typical menus, as well as pizzerias and pubs.
The farmhouse bed and breakfast is located 18 km from the city center, on the Ozzan hills, in a ventilated and quiet place. The nearby village offers all main services: post office, bank, market, bar, newsstand, pharmacy, beauty center.
