Il Poggio d'Artilla” (Artilla's Hill) is a gracious inn on a working farm. Il Poggio is “an “agriturismo”, or tourist farm, located in the Tuscia region of Italy, land of the mysterious Etruscan civilization that predated the Roman Empire. Tuscia is at the centre of three major geographic regions—Umbria, Lazio and Tuscany. This very advantageous location offers guests a convenient place from which to visit some of the best of Italy's typical artistic centres and numerous natural and archaeological wonders. The agriturismo is operated by a skilled sommelier, who tends her own vineyard. She also cultivates seven hectares of olive orchard composed of ancient trees that produce a premium extra-virgin olive oil. As you stroll through the property, bounded in part by native forest rich in vegetation, you can explore fascinating “tufa” (volcanic stone) caves, presumably of the Etruscan period, in which it is possible to relive what were once the living and working conditions of local farmers until after the Second World War. As a guest it is possible to participate in wine and cheese tasting, techniques of winemaking and food preparation, including fruit juices, jams, preserves, cheese, pasta, bread and liquors. Also offered are courses in environmental education and medicinal and aromatic herbs. The proprietress has outdone herself in creating a productive and attractive farm and the atmosphere at Il Poggio d'Artilla is welcoming and receptive.
Il Casale is the main structure. It is a typical tufa and stone house spread over two floors, nestled in the surrounding countryside and positioned at the top of a hill overlooking the tranquil valley below. It comprises 5 spacious and comfortable bedrooms, each with a private bathroom. The kitchen is very spacious and well-equipped; in the reserved garden there is also a barbecue. Just a few meters away, il Casaletto offers a more intimate and independent stay. It consists of a bedroom with a double bed, two single beds in the living room with open kitchen, bathroom with shower. The panoramic and reserved patio overlooks the large garden and pool, while the view stretches across the valley. There is also a dog enclosure if needed. On the edge of the woods there is also a Yurt. A unique and welcoming 32 sqm space, ideal for a retreat or for spending a few days in close contact with nature.

From May/June to September you can enjoy our beautiful infinity pool with panoramic views. For guests choosing self-catering accommodations, we also offer the opportunity to purchase fresh and dry products (bread, flour, eggs, fruits and vegetables, preserves, cheeses, beer, wine, meat and cold cuts) from our own farms and productions and from the local rural network. We also take care of booking and suggesting activities in the surrounding areas, from wine cellar visits and tastings to horseback riding.
