In 2000, I decided to abandon my hectic, stressful life and retire to the countryside. I chose Umbria because it's beautiful, green, welcoming, and mystical! I love hosting guests in my fantastic farmhouse. I welcome them with warmth and discretion. My guests should feel at home and enjoy the spectacular views that Il Poggiolo offers. The pool has a breathtaking view of a pristine valley, and in the park you can relax, read, and enjoy a glass of wine while watching the sunset change every evening. I look forward to seeing you!
In an excellent position, deep in the colour and fragrance of the surrounding landscape, Il Poggiolo offers an amazing view of the Umbrian country side. The four stone-walled apartments are furnished and decorated in a stylish manner with many beautiful touches that are truly Umbrian and are a reflection of the owners’ love for country matters. All of them have a private patio, chimney and fully equipped kitchenette. A wonderful swimming pool, laid on a natural terrace, offers stunning view of the surrounding hills. Every available surface within the property has been planted with flowers brimming with a profusion of colours. “Rigoletto” With its big chimney, its laces, ceiling beams, stone walls and its private gazebo covered with fragrant jasmines, Rigoletto is the ideal apartment for a romantic stay. “Il flauto magico"” A private patio facing the nice and coloured garden, ancient furniture, a big white bed to relax and feel at home. Entrance via private covered terrace, living room with kitchen corner, small fireplace and sofa bed, one double bedroom with an suite bathroom with bathtube and hand shower. “Boheme” A beautiful terrace facing the green hills to enjoy a nice glass of cold white wine, looking at the many different colours of a wonderful sunset. “Parsifal” Books characterize this apartment, coloured with all shades of blue. Guests can exchange and leave their English, German, Dutch, Italian books, or simply relax on the terrace, enjoying a warm summer night staring at the stars. The restaurant, which is reserved for our guests, is warm and comfortable in winter, but with the arrival of Spring and its terrace full of smartly set tables, it becomes our guests’ delight. Candlelight dinners, the enlightened swimming pool…good food and wine…good music, a magic atmosphere and the wonderful landscape…to make our guests experience a very special night. The Poggiolo is the starting point for exploring the strategic and central Italy: Orvieto, Todi, Perugia, Assisi, Città della Pieve are just some of the Umbrian towns that can be reached in a short time and then you can push in southe Tuscany and visit Pienza, Montepulciano, Montalcino to the beautiful abbey of St. Antimo. Outside the traditional tourist routes around the hills hide small villages that take us back to other times where it seems that time has stopped. And here that we can find a castle, an abandoned village, an enchanted garden.
