At Guggiate, a hillside hamlet of Bellagio, early 18th-century agricultural buildings have been restored to welcome guests at agriturismo La Derta. Surrounding the property are olive groves producing the estate's own oil, a woodland of chestnut and linden trees, and a meadow where sheep graze. The vegetable garden grows berries, fruit and aromatic herbs. The rooms, styled as a B&B, feature air conditioning and complimentary wifi. Breakfast arrives with honey, jams, eggs and vegetables produced on the farm. Villa Melzi Gardens are about 600 metres away, and the lakeside promenade is a twenty-minute walk. Private parking is included. Aurelia and Virginia manage the property. Domestic pets are not accepted: between the sheep, chickens, and the occasional passing fox or roe deer, it's best to avoid such encounters.
