Four days immersed in the Casentino Forests National Park, with magnificent spring hikes along roaring mountain streams...
La Chiusa is a historic mid-mountain farm located in the Tuscan Apennines on the slopes of Mount Falterona. It is located among meadows and woods in the Casentino Forest National Park. It is a simple and authentic family-run farm, ideal for a holiday in nature. It welcomes all those who wish to share the philosophy of sustainable tourism without glitz and waste. By choice, it does not offer W-IFI but a digital detox holiday. As an alternative to using your mobile phone, you can go hiking on the Park's marked trails following the advice of the manager, who is a National Park guide, or take a swim in one of the two streams that surround the farmhouse. Near the house there is a wildlife observatory set up by the Park for photographing the deer and fallow deer that graze on the meadow in front of the loggia, and a pond for breeding amphibians, especially newts and the rare yellow-bellied toad, created as part of the European Project for the Conservation of Wetlands in this S. I. C. The main crop is the wild boar, which is grown in the area, and the most important one is the "C". The main cultivation is that of organic saffron, in the harvesting of which we involve guests who wish to do so in the second half of October, and the production of fruit from ancient Casentino cultivars with which we make both our Acerbo del Casentino, an unfiltered and unsweetened apple juice with a unique flavour, and our home-made jams. Nuvola and Mon Cheri, our two white ponies have enjoyed this nature with us for many years.
