Description Il Portone

The farm holiday “il portone” in ‘borgo san martino’ is set on the green hills of abbateggio, in the heart of the majella national park. It is immersed in a natural environment suitable for hiking and excursions on a mountain bike and it is surrounded by a vast and interesting panorama embracing the mount majella, the beautiful hills and the adriatic sea. The farm holiday is the result of a careful restoration which preserved the original architectural elements, typical of the rural architecture, making use of materials like stones and fired bricks. It offers 9 bedrooms, each one with a bathroom and an independent entrance, and 2 flats with 2 bedrooms. The farm holiday sleeps up to 29 people. Every room has a panoramic view and a balcony overlooking the lejo valley and are furnished with ancient furniture according to the local country-style. In the two restaurant halls the guests can taste the typical dishes prepared following the recipes of the local tradition and the living room, with its imposing chimney made of stone, offers all the guests a relaxing and pleasant stay.

For winter sports, the ‘Maielletta’ skiing resort is only a few minutes away. The surrounding territory is excellent for cultural visits and nature trails such as the historic centre of Abbateggio and the archaeological site of the age-old Valle Giumentina, Caramanico Terme and the nature reserve of the Valle dell’Orfento, the Celestine hermitages of Santo Spirito, San Bartolomeo e San Giovanni all’Orfento, the abbeys of San Liberatore a Majella, Santa Maria Arabona and San Clemente a Casauria, splendid examples of Benedictine and Cistercian architecture. The historic centres of L’Aquila and Sulmona, the National Parks of the Majella, Abruzzo and the Gran Sasso e Monti della Laga.

	Siamo stati una settimana a fine giugno e siamo stati benissimo. La struttura bella e raffinata, le stanze arredate con gusto e confortevoli, senza dimenticare la gentilezza e la dedizione di Donatella e Giancarlo che ci hanno coccolato dall'inizio alla fine. Ottima la cucina e la terrazza con una vista più unica che rara dove mangiare. Non vediamo l'ora di tornarci. (Excellent)

	les chambres et leur salle de bain sont très agréables et aménagées avec beaucoup de goût. L'accueil de Donatella et Gianfranco est très sympathique et Donatella parle un excellent français, ce qui aide beaucoup. Le cadre est magnifique et la cuisine à base de produits de la maison, ainsi que le pain et le vin. Nous aurions aimé rester plus longtemps. Nous recommandons vivement et sans hésitation cette excellente adresse. (Excellent)

	Il Portone ist ein traumhaft. Das Zimmer (Orione) war urgemütlich mit modernem Bad. Donatella und D'Angelo sind Könige im Kochen. Es war alles herrlich unkompliziert und sehr ruhig und erholsam. Wir haben uns pudelwohl gefühlt. (Good)
