We are living another summer of crisis, a season in which those who can leave, do so for fewer days. Among the interesting news of this summer 2013 there is not only the success of the farmhouses, but also the fact that their situation is less negative than the one of hotels.
What origins has the structure of your house?
Very old! These lands were part of the great estates of the Medici family of Florence and had been organized in the form of farms administered by “Scrittoio delle Regie Possessioni”, that is the state apparatus which looked after the interests of the Princely House. Then in 1600 some of these lands were sold by Frederick II.
SMEs are realities that are suffering so much from the financial crisis. The farms are part of this area in considerable difficulty, for which, however, good news has just arrived. We talk about the news of signing an agreement between the Cia (Italian Farmers Confederation) and the Abi (Italian Banking Association).
Surrounded by 2,000 acres of forest, located in a wonderful landscape and archaeological area, we find the Farmhouse Vecchia Masseria Charme & Relax. This facility, owned by the Golino family, is presented with care by Mr Philipe, an excellent cook by profession.
Despite the excellent data on bookings for the summer holidays, that see the farmhouses one of the favourite destinations of Italian people, we should not underestimate the problems of this field. The farms still feel the crisis, and it’s always nice to see how in some cases the instances of such an important sector have been listened to, and funds of great financial entity are given.
