Casamassima derives from Masserie, i.e. structures consisting of a set of 'rooms' for living and working that overlook a single central space (courtyard or courtyard). These have undergone many transformations over time, especially between the 19th and 20th centuries, so the original forms are not always legible. They were at the centre of farms that produced everything that made them self-sufficient, that is until they opened up to the regular exchange of produce in markets. They produced everything necessary for the sustenance of the workers and owners with their families; many farms became fortified structures to protect crops from Saracen and/or bandit attacks (in the countryside around Ostuni, especially oil). In them, the souls of the workers and their families gathered in rural churches. They were therefore self-sufficient communities..... and today they are also agritourisms and charming rural residences... just a few minutes from the Adriatic Sea but also a few kilometres from the Ionian Sea. Masseria Casamassima offers its guests the possibility of staying in different flats and rooms according to their accommodation capacity. All accommodation units and rooms have a double bed, sofa bed, equipped kitchen, bathroom with shower, TV, and hairdryer. Some also have a fireplace and air conditioning.
