In the immediate vicinity of Asciano is Agriturismo Paradiso, Maria Teresa and Fabio's little paradise, where a friendly and warm atmosphere reigns. It overlooks the beautiful scenery of the Crete Senesi, an area in the province of Siena, located halfway between Chianti and Valdorcia. Also called the 'desert of Accona', it begins on the southern outskirts of Siena and ends immediately after the Abbey of Monte Oliveto Maggiore. In summer, splendid expanses of wheat or sunflowers, interspersed with the red patches of poppies and yellow patches of wild turnips, take on a completely different appearance immediately after threshing: 'almost African'.
