The holiday farm has been recently restored and now retains all the classic architectural aspects of old Tuscan dwellings (cotto or stone floors, oak beams, brick arches), but it was also endowed with a modetouch to add all comforts. The apartments have each their private entrance, a garden and a reserved area by the swimming pool. In the main house we have five apartments of different sizes and then there is the Cottage, which may be divided into two separate flats and, being detached and surrounded by a large garden, is ideal for groups. There is also a small playground for the children, near the pool, and a restaurant, with typical courses from the Tuscan tradition, prepared exclusively with local products and organic vegetables from our farm that you may taste in the outdoor panoramic loggia. We have bikes for our guests and a common laundry room. THE OUTSIDE and THE FACILITIES The estate is surrounded by a large common garden hosting all the collective facilities. You have all options, from a trip to our historical cities and towns, to a stroll in the forest and eventually maybe a bath in one of the spa around here, or again embark on a food & wine tour to taste the delicacies of this region, or go fishing, horse-riding, play golf or tennis, or maybe go for some real shopping in the outlets of the most famous Italian fashion brands!

The inn within the property is on the ground floor of the farmhouse and it is the area dedicated to flavour and taste of farm cookery: We serve on the tables of our restaurant only local organic products exalted by the ancient Tuscan food tradition. Our is a family-run farmhouse in Tuscany where we cultivate our own organic vegetables according to the different seasons of the year, along with some aromatic plants from which we extract essences. The dining room of the restaurant is furnished according to real Tuscan tradition, with wooden tables and chairs and during sprintime and summer you may choose to dine outside under the loggia, overlooking the valley of the river Arno and the hills that surrounds it. In the restaurant we have buffet breakfast and serve lunch and dinner, but we are also pleased to organise wine and oil tastings on request and you may always enjoy an aperitif before dinner or a refreshing drink or a pint of beer during a hot afternoon while relaxing at the swimming pool. Try our main courses of fresh pasta with our ragouts of vegetables or game, our grilled meat and our starters of cheese and cold cuts on the cutting board. Everything is proposed with some local organic wines on the side, and on request we cook vegetarian and vegan dishes as well. Try some traditional Tuscan recepies, as the pappa al pomodoro, or the panzanella, or the ribollita, they are healthy and easily replicable by yourself, maybe learning how to prepare them using our organic vegetables and the products you may buy and discover at our shop, where you shall find all our organic wines ever available. Here at “Le Dimore di Poggianto” we do not go searching for products very far: everything is either self produced or comes from the farms near us and we even go daily to take the water you drink in our inn from a little spring outside the medieval walls of the town of Laterina.

Surroundings (Pergine Valdarno)

The Upper Valdarno is a large natural trough, closed north and east by the Pratomagno Mountains and bordered on the west by the Chianti Mountains. In the Middle Ages, the valley was long disputed between Florence and Arezzo, and today its regions are divided between the two capitals. Numerous archaeological finds of Etruscan and Roman period testify that these areas were already populated in the Archaic period. The prinipale towns are Montevarchi, San Giovanni Valdarno and Terranuova Bracciolini. On the slopes of Pratomagno, the "Cassia Vetus", the ancient road that connected the "lucumonia" of Arezzo to Fiesole, now named route "Setteponti". Along the road, "The Cliffs", spectacular landscapes with striking phenomena of clay soil erosion, the Roman Bridge Buriano of 1200 and many other historical and natural places to visit. Leonardo da Vinci himself, excited at the sight of these places, chose them as the background of his most famous work, the Mona Lisa.
