The Herds of St. Paul is an ancient farm. It was built in the eleventh century by the abbey of St. Benedict (seventh century AD.), to control its agricultural land. With the unification of Italy become a private farm. During the 1800 and 1900 was very populated but with the industrialisation of the country Le Mandrie were abandoned and become a ruin. In 2000, enter in the dreams of a family. After many years of renovations, we started a new "history " for this place. Le Mandrie di San Paolo (the Herd of Saint Paul) is situated in an incredible panoramic view over the Umbria and Tuscany hills, only few minutes from the historical center of Assisi. It’s a place which combined history and passion. It is an oasis of nature just a few hundred meters from the UNESCO site of the Francesco Hermitage of “Le Carceri”. Dante Alighieri, one of the most important Italian poet, described our hills in the 1300 in "The Divine Comedy " poem. Staying at Le Mandrie di San Paolo means rediscovery the nature. The atmosphere is ideal for a relaxing vacation and to be in contact with nature. It will be the wonderful country side that will allure you to this place. At the rear of the farmhouse there are hundreds of hectares of forest (we recommend to find the time to stroll along the path number 54 brings, through the wood, up to the S. Francis chapel in 35minutes). In front of the agriturismo there are hectares of oliveyard: we are in the middle of a natural reserve, only few minutes from the historical centre of Assisi and Spello. The accommodation are two-room apartments for 3 or 4 people (some with kitchenette), suites and double rooms. The entire hotel (rooms, restaurant and swimming pool) was made accessible to the disabled. All the apartmens/rooms have private bathroom, heating, telephone, TV, wifi internet, refrigerator and air conditioning.
