We are situated on a beautiful hill overlooking the built-up area of Pescia Fiorentina, in the midst of clusters of old oaks and olive trees. The name 'Il Fontino' comes from the old spring arising in the vicinity of the building, of which the main body dates from 1700. Originally, it was a papal customs house, and the ground floor was used as a stable for horses. At the beginning of the twentieth century it passed into the hands of the Magrinis, who bought it from the aristocratic Boncompagni Ludovisi family, together with the outlying lands, some other rural buildings and another beautiful former papal customs house, 200m from it, known today as 'Villa Puccini'. The current owner, Mr Marco Stefano Caracciolo, is the nephew of Nella Magrini whose little paintings are shown in the spacious main hall. The recent restoration has strictly maintained the original structure of the building, and visitors can admire, inside, the ancient walls of the former customs house and the great vaults of the stables.
