Anna, my husband Giuseppe and I landed in Maremma at Podere Cavone on 14 July 2001. Before that we lived in Milan in a nice house in the centre of town, but with a dream in our hearts to go and live in the countryside near the sea. The guest house, located a short distance from the main house, gives us both the right amount of privacy. All the rooms have a double entrance with direct access to the garden. Outside each room, a small wooden table with two chairs and two white canvas deckchairs have been set up. In the garden, on the lawn, two benches overlook the panorama of the sun, the sea, the Uccellina mountains, the Gulf of Castiglione and the Island of Elba! When, after a careful search lasting years, we saw Podere Cavone, it was love at first sight; twenty-four hours later we signed the agreement, the place was beautiful and the facilities, some of which already existed, perfectly suited our needs. During the renovation we tried to respect the environment and traditions by making the structure as comfortable as possible for us and our guests. The heart of the house is the veranda that featured in an article in the magazine "i Viaggi di Repubblica" whose title was precisely "a veranda on the Maremma". On the veranda, in addition to breakfast, it is very pleasant to sit and read a book, perhaps sipping a glass of our Morellino di Scansano, surfing the Internet via our wireles connection, chatting, or simply contemplating the wonderful sunsets that this land offers us!

The structure comprises three double rooms (two with double beds, one with twin beds) and one suite, each with independent entrance, spacious bathroom, safe, and individually adjustable heating. The interiors have been carefully furnished; we sought to bring inside all the warmth and style of Maremma by sourcing every single piece from local antique dealers, personalizing each room with the aim of creating an elegant yet welcoming environment. Small bouquets of flowers gathered from the garden in front of the rooms embellish the bedrooms and various spaces throughout the house in every season of the year, "…there's always something to pick!"

Our goal is to make your stay in Maremma unique yet worth repeating—we want you to feel like you're on vacation at the home of friends you'll always want to return to. Every morning during breakfast, we clean the rooms and replace soiled linens as needed. Because we want to make a vacation in Maremma enjoyable year-round, the heating system is independently adjustable directly from your room, and wireless coverage extends across the entire property. Upon request, a fully equipped kitchen complete with oven, dishwasher, and microwave is available for our guests. A small but beautifully panoramic swimming pool is at our guests' disposal, perfect for a refreshing swim or relaxing in the sun.

Surroundings (Magliano in Toscana)

Podere Cavone Agricultural Estate spans approximately 16 hectares and sits at the top of a hilltop within the Regional Park of Maremma, offering breathtaking views across the entire valley, from the Monti dell'Uccellina mountains down to the sea at Punta Ala and Castiglione della Pescaia, with the Island of Elba on the horizon. Thanks to the characteristic westerly breeze, it stays pleasantly cool and breezy even during the summer months. Its strategic location, halfway between Argentario and Castiglione della Pescaia, makes it an ideal base for visiting places of outstanding natural and cultural interest such as the Regional Park of Maremma, the Thermal Springs of Saturnia, the tuff stone village of Pitigliano, and Talamone with its charming little harbour. All the conditions are here for a wonderful romantic weekend, or a full week exploring this extraordinary territory that is "LA MAREMMA".
