In the Monopoli countryside there is a typically Apulian farmhouse, a Masseria painted antique pink and with green shutters, dating back to the early 1800s. Initially the residence of a curate, hence the place-name Masseria 'Curatori', it was later always inhabited by farming families. Since 1948 the Masseria has been owned by the Contento family, who transformed it into a farmhouse in 1991. The structure is in absolute harmony with the landscape and country life. Centuries-old olive trees, pastures, an ancient hypogeum oil mill, a large citrus grove protected by a suggestive fortified wall, frame a lively livestock farm (cows, horses, poultry...). The stay is a happy combination of bucolic relaxation and the stimulating rediscovery of ancient agricultural activities. A siesta in the silent citrus grove, a bike ride, a horse-drawn carriage ride, a walk among the olive trees, or watching the milking, the care of the horses, the preparation of dairy products, bread, focaccia, taralli and friselle in a wood-burning oven, are some of the various options for an alternative holiday.
