Hesiod's Theogony tells how, after Chaos, immortal Gaia of the broad bosom arose, progenitrix of the gods of Olympus. Alone and without joining with anyone she generated Uranus (the starry sky), Pontus (the depths of the sea) and the hills. And right there, where a still lush Mediterranean countryside, of century-old olive trees and carob trees, mastic trees and broom, forms the backdrop to the crossroads of cultures that have followed one another over the millennia, stands, immersed in an atmosphere of deep quiet and serenity, the Agriturismo Gaia. The house was built by the great-grandfather at the end of the 1800s and has been renovated respecting the typical Sicilian style and architecture. The floors are in Sicilian terracotta, the high vaulted ceilings with wooden beams, the baglio (the courtyard) in stone with the cistern at the centre. The rooms overlook the baglio, but out of respect for privacy they have mirrored glass and shutters for the evening. They all have a bathroom, are air-conditioned, with independent entrance and are spacious; double, double with double bed, triple and quadruple (family).
