The Pratone farmhouse is an old Tuscan farmhouse that has been carefully restored with particular attention to maintaining its ancient building characteristics. In fact, the external walls are all fair-faced and the interior features wooden beams and terracotta floors. The farmhouse is located 600 m. above sea level, in the upper Maremma, on the hills surrounding Mount Aquilaia. From here you can admire a splendid panorama that sweeps from Monte Argentario to the Uccellina Park to the islands of Giglio, from Monte Cristo, Elba and Corsica to the gulf of Castiglione della Pescaia. The Pratone farmhouse is immersed in the countryside and has an extension of about 25ha of land where you can go for walks in the open countryside in the midst of nature and where you can admire roe deer pheasants hares wild boars and other animals such as donkeys horses sheep and farmyard animals. The farmhouse also has a large garden where old farm tools used by early 20th-century farmers in the Tuscan countryside are laid out. There is also, in common use, a laundry room equipped with a washing machine that guests can use free of charge. In the winter season, the Pratone farmhouse is an excellent base for those wishing to ski in the Tuscan Apennines and especially on Monte Amiata: the ski slopes are in fact only 20 km away. Lastly, it is possible, starting from the Pratone holiday farm, to make mountain bike excursions in the surrounding countryside and trips to nearby localities, including: - the thermal baths of Saturnia and Petriolo - Pienza, Pitigliano, Sovana and the Etruscan Necropolis - the Maremma Park - the Monte Amiata Fauna Park and Monte Labbro - Monte Argentario, Orbetello, Giglio Island and the Roman City of Cosa - Montalcino and Siena - Roselle with Etruscan and Roman ruins - Castiglione della Pescaia - Bagni San Filippo
