The farmastay “Il Querceto” is an old Tuscan farm situated in the south corner of the district of Pisa, in the middle of the quiet country of the Upper Cecina valley. Built on a headland of the Metalliferous Hills, the farmstay rises above the River Cecina valley and the wildlife reserve of Berignone-Tatti, 3 Km away from Pomarance, one of the oldest medieval hamlets of the whole area. In just 15 minutes you can reach the town of Volterra, the cultural nucleus of the entire valley that bears witness to over 3,000 years of history. Volterra was inhabited by various civilisations and was an important city under the Etruscans – the Guarnacci Etruscan Museum in Volterra is one of the oldest public museums in Europe and houses one of the world’s finest Etruscan collections. Pomarance’s central location also offers more classic itineraries: with a short drive you can visit the famous Towers of San Gimignano (30 minutes), the Piazza del Campo in Siena (one hour), the Leaning Tower of Pisa (one hour and 15 minutes), Florence (about an hour and half) and the beaches of the Tyrrhenian Coast (30 minutes).
The rooms, spacious and comfortable, with double beds, complete with wooden wardrobes with drawers, desk, chair and/or armchair, are on the first floor and each offers a private bathroom equipped with all services and a shower box. A double room for people with disabilities is instead located on the ground floor with independent entrance and private bathroom. The agritourism apartments are two: "La Miniera" and "La Rocca". Both are on the ground floor, each with independent entrance and private outdoor space with table and chairs. La Miniera – so named because it overlooks Montecatini Val di Cecina, whose history is linked to the Camporciano copper mine – has a kitchen-living room with sofa bed, a bathroom with shower and a double bedroom. La Rocca – which overlooks the Rocca Sillana, a fortress according to legend dating back to the time of the war between Mario and Silla – has an open-plan kitchen-living room with sofa bed, a bathroom with shower, a double bedroom
