Description Testaferrata

Twenty-four rooms in a nineteenth-century farmhouse nestled within the Plemmirio nature reserve, eight kilometers from Ortigia. The estate spans 55 hectares and is cultivated organically: citrus fruits, olives, vegetables, and cereals. Guests dining at the Myriòn restaurant can pick up a basket and harvest fresh vegetables directly from the orchard beside the kitchen, then hand them to the staff who incorporate them into the day's menu.

The rooms have been restored with carefully selected period furnishings complemented by modern amenities. Outside, a swimming pool surrounded by olive groves and the villa's gardens. A ten-minute walk away lies the Grotta della Pillirina, within the Plemmirio marine reserve, where the water displays the crystalline clarity characteristic of this stretch of Syracuse's coastline.

The property originated as an ancient Sicilian masseria—a fortified farmhouse that once organized workers, livestock, and agricultural storage around itself. The original structure remains clearly legible here: the main villa at the center, cultivated fields stretching outward, and the Plemmirio sea forming the boundary.

Typical Cuisine
The restaurant is called Myriòn and is located within the spaces of the nineteenth-century masseria, next to the vegetable garden that supplies the kitchen. If you wish, you can take a basket, harvest tomatoes and vegetables yourself, and leave them in the kitchen: they will prepare them for your meal. The surrounding estate is organic, fifty-five hectares within the Plemmirio nature reserve, and produces citrus fruits, olives, vegetables and cereals: much of what arrives on your table comes from here. The oil is pressed on-site, and the salt used is sea salt. The menu changes daily following the seasons: fish comes from local waters, other ingredients from the historic markets of Syracuse. Among the dishes you might find are swordfish or tuna sautéed in a pan with local white wine, sultana raisins, capers and wild mint. The dining rooms occupy the historic spaces of the villa, with original nineteenth-century ceilings and furnishings. You can dine in the evening or have lunch at midday, with tables overlooking a garden of orange and olive trees.
