Our dream was born ten years ago when we decided to recover an old farm owned by our family located on the outskirts of the city of Potenza and to create an eco-sustainable agritourism. Today the farm covers about fifty hectares of bushy pasture and arable land used for the production of cereals and fodder for animal feed; the stables house about seventy Italian red spotted cattle - Simmental - for the production of milk and meat and about thirty sheep and goats for meat. The restructuring process involved the construction from scratch of a modern stable and the recovery of the old farm buildings to be used for agritourism activities. The pre-existing structure was that of a typical Potentine farm, consisting of a modest farm centre, with simple buildings used as stables and warehouses, and an area of land mostly used for grazing. To date, the process of reconversion and transformation of Taverna Centomani is still in progress. The farmhouse has nine bedrooms with independent entrances and private bathrooms. Each room is equipped with a 22' LED TV, with the possibility of Sky and Pay per View. The furnishings, all different from each other, significantly characterise the rooms and the underfloor heating makes the environment very comfortable. The rooms have been obtained from the old sheepfold, which has been completely rebuilt using bio-architectural techniques to be converted into accommodation. Taverna Centomani is, therefore, the ideal place to stop for those who wish to have an authentic experience in contact with nature on a farm that has married harmony between the environment, agriculture and food to offer the best to its guests. An old barn, which still retains its original stone manger, has been converted into a cosy common room where breakfast is served and which is available to Taverna Centomani guests during the day as a reading and relaxation room. The old barn, which has recently been restored, has become a small processing workshop with an adjoining sales room for the farm's products, among which, in the near future, cheese and yoghurt made with our high quality milk will also be available for tasting. A small farmer's market is also being set up for the sale of our products together with a selection of the agri-food excellences of Basilicata. Work on the renovation of another building, to be used as a restaurant, to complete our agriturismo, will begin shortly, so at the moment we are only able to offer hospitality. We prepare packed breakfasts and cold snacks on request.
