WHAT TO SEE: the Su Nuraxi nuraghe in Barumini, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the beaches of Chia and Tuerredda, the archaeological site of Nora, Cagliari with the Castello district and the National Archaeological Museum, the Sette Fratelli mountains, the Molentargius lagoon with its pink flamingos, and the islands of Sant'Antioco and San Pietro in the Sulcis.

LOCAL SPECIALITIES: culurgiones (filled pasta), malloreddus (small Sardinian gnocchi), porceddu (roast suckling pig), grey mullet bottarga, cheeses such as Pecorino Sardo, pane carasau, sweets such as seadas (fritters with honey).

WINES: Cannonau, Vermentino, Carignano del Sulcis, Nuragus, Monica di Sardegna.

THINGS TO DO: relaxing on the beaches, trekking in the Sette Fratelli mountains, visits to archaeological sites and the former mines of the Sulcis, food and wine tours of local wineries, boat trips along the coast and to the islands of Sant'Antioco and San Pietro, exploring the Is Zuddas caves.
